Asked

Question

  • Is SnowEffects snow eco-friendly?

It sure is! SnowScape and SnowHold are both made from recycled plant based materials. SnowHold has been lab tested to be “biodegradable”. Our SnowScape Pro product is 100% biodegradable. Pet and human safe to play in, but folks, it’s not meant for consumption.

  • How do I apply SnowEffects snow? Do I need special equipment?

It depends on the type and quantity of artificial snow you are applying. For best results to give more natural look, we recommend using an insulation blower to apply SnowScape, which is a non-adhesive product. Insulation blowers are available for purchase on our site, or you can simply rent one at a local home improvement store. For small jobs, simply pour it out of the bag, and distribute where you want it. It can be spread with a rake or broom. If you are applying SnowHold adhesive Snow, for best results use a SnowForce machine. SnowHold will blend with a fine water mist and activate the adhesive. Once the adhesive snow hits the desired surface it will dry and adhere. The SnowForce machine requires a regular 110v power source and a standard garden hose to supply water.

  • How much SnowEffects snow do I need?

SnowScape cover approximately 25-30 square feet at 3 inches deep. Best coverage is achieved by blowing in the material. SnowHold covers 4-5 eight foot evergreen trees. SnowHold provides great coverage, but it the amount depends on the build and surface to which you are applying. If applying to a flat surface, we recommend approximately one bag for every 75 square feet at ¼ inch thick.

  • How do I cleanup SnowEffects snow?

Since SnowScape is non-adhesive, it can simply be shoveled or vacuumed up with a vacuum cleaner, industrial vacuum, lawnmower, or leave blower with a bagging system. For reallhy easy cleanup, simply use our Ground Cloth with you apply SnowScape and the roll it up like a big burrito to discard. SnowHold can be simply washed off with a garden hose or a power pressure washer.

  • What is the difference between SnowScape and SnowHold?

SnowScape is a non-adhesive product that is great for creating deeper snow. SnowHold contains adhesive and is best applied with a SnowForce machine. It's a good for creating a "flocking" effect.

  • Which of Snow Effects products are best used for close-up applications?

SnowCap has been specically formulated to hold up to the demands of close-up cinematography.

  • Which of Snow Effects products are best used for medium to wide shots?

SnowDrift has been specically formulated for medium to wide shots.

  • How does wind affect SnowCap and SnowDrift?

SnowScape is surprisingly wind resistant on rough surfaces such as underlayment and our grass surfaces but more susceptible to wind on slick surfaces such as concrete. If concerned about wind, simply spray a light mist of water over the surface or top the surface with SnowHold to stick it together. SnowHold is not susceptible to wind after applied.

  • Are there flame retardent versions of SnowCap and SnowDrift?

Yes, SnowHold is California Fire Marshal approved and SnowScape can be purchased with the option of choosing a Class A Fire Marshal approved product.

  • Should I use Ground Cloth or underlayment or not?

Ground Cloth best used for ease of cleanup especially on rough surfaces. Simply roll up the Ground Cloth and the SnowScape with it and discard. Ground Cloth is also good to keep SnowScape from blowing around on slick surfaces such as concrete. Using the white Ground Cloth also allows you to use less SnowScape material to achieve complete coverage of an area with uneven surfaces such as grassy or rocky areas.

  • What will SnowScape look like after it rains?

Snowscape absorbs moisture and remains bright white in color. Heavy rains will matt the surface and cause it to be less fluffy. Once Snowscape dries back out in the sun, it become fluffy again.

  • Can I walk on SnowScape or SnowHold after I apply it?

Yes, SnowScape will act like real snow when you walk on it and leave impressions such as footprints when walked on. It simulates real snow, so it is great to interact with whether you are producing a movie or holding an event. SnowHold can be walked on once it is completely dry, but we do not recommend walking on it when it is wet or even slightly damp. SnowHold when not completely dry, will stick to just about anything including your shoes, but it can be removed with water.
